Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Álom collects, why we collect it, who sees it and how you can control it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

In short
  • We collect only what we need to reply to you, quote, deliver work and run this website.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We never have and we will not.
  • We do not give your information to data brokers or advertisers.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@alom.com.au.

1. Who we are

Álom is a trading name of Kia Bako-Kirkpatrick, a sole trader based in Inglewood, Western Australia (ABN 46 198 970 748). In these documents, “Álom”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that business.

You can contact us at hello@alom.com.au or on 0467 474 210.

2. The law that applies

Álom is a small business. Whether or not the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to us, we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in that Act. We also follow the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Australian Consumer Law, and this policy is governed by the laws of Western Australia.

3. What we collect

Information you give us:

  • your name, email address, phone number and business name
  • details about your project, such as your goals, website, dates, locations and budget
  • messages, emails and files you send us
  • booking details if you book a call through our Google Calendar link
  • invoice and payment records for work you buy from us

Information collected automatically when you visit this website:

  • your IP address, device type, browser and approximate location
  • pages you view, how long you stay and the website you came from
  • cookies and similar technologies (see section 7)

Information from our work: if you give us access to your website, hosting, Google or social media accounts, we use that access only to do the work, and we ask you to remove it when the work is finished. Photos and video we take for clients may show people (see section 8).

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details, and we ask that you do not send it to us. We do not store card numbers on this website.

4. Why we collect it and how we use it

  • to reply to enquiries and give you a quote
  • to plan, deliver and support the work you buy
  • to send invoices, keep financial records and meet tax and legal obligations
  • to understand how our website is used and improve it
  • to keep our website secure and prevent spam

We only send marketing emails if you ask for them or give us your consent, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We do not use your information for automated decisions about you.

5. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, trade or give your personal information to anyone for their own marketing. We do not build advertising profiles of you to sell. The only people who handle your information are the service providers in section 6, and only so that we can do our work.

6. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need:

  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising measurement through the Meta pixel
  • Google, for website analytics (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager), calendar bookings, fonts and spam protection where used
  • Formspree, which processes the forms on this website and delivers them to our email
  • Vimeo, which plays the videos embedded on this website
  • our website host and email provider
  • our accounting, invoicing and payment providers
  • subcontractors we use for a project, such as an editor, who are bound to keep your information confidential

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers and share only what is needed. By sending us your information you accept that it may be handled in this way.

7. Cookies, analytics and advertising

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to measure how it is used and to measure our advertising. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Google acts as our service provider for this.

We also use the Meta pixel, from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), to measure how well our ads on those platforms work and to understand what people do after they click an ad. The pixel may collect your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you view and actions such as clicking a booking button or sending an enquiry form. Meta handles that information under its own privacy policy, and we use the results to improve our advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use Google’s opt out browser add on for analytics. You can control the ads you see and how Meta uses your information in your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences. If you block cookies, some parts of the site may not work properly.

Videos from Vimeo and links to social media sites may set their own cookies when you use them. Those companies have their own privacy policies.

8. Photos and video of people

We take photos and video for clients at events, shoots and venues. We do this with the permission of the client who booked us, and our client terms require them to get any consents needed from the people involved.

If you appear in an image and want it removed from our website or social media, email us and we will take it down promptly. We publish portfolio work and case studies only with the client’s permission.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We limit who can see it and we keep software up to date. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data breaches

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and, where the law requires it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as we reasonably can.

11. How long we keep information

Financial records are kept for at least five years, as Australian tax law requires. Other personal information is kept only as long as we need it for the purposes above, then deleted or de identified.

12. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it
  • stop sending you marketing

Email hello@alom.com.au. We may need to confirm who you are first. We will reply within 30 days where we can. If we cannot give you access or make a change, we will tell you why in writing.

13. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, email hello@alom.com.au and we will acknowledge it promptly and reply in writing within 30 days. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
